Class Webpage - Year
4
My name is Tom Doyle and I am excited about teaching the
children in year 4.
The class will have a
variety of opportunities and experiences to make the year
as rewarding as possible supported by various members of staff.
Mrs Pearson works in the ICT Suite with the class and as a
school assistant. Mr Barnett provides the music and the singing
for the class.
Dr Johnson our Chair
of Governors works every Tuesday to support the teaching,
in particular science, music and English.
Mrs Witchell teaches
the class on a Tuesday morning in English and P.E.
Mrs Dunbar is our school
assistant and I try to be there as well if I can!
Topics covered this year
will include:
Why did Henry VIII marry
6 times? I've often wondered that myself!
What life was like for
children in WWII.
We will find out about
village settlers, and improving our environment. Electricity,
habitats, friction, solids and liquids, moving and growing.
The Children will be
taught R.E following the 'Here I Am' syllabus.
Maths and English is
the key to success at school and I will place a great emphasis
on learning multiplication tables and weekly spelling tests.
Hearing your child read
is also crucial at this age.
I want the children to
enjoy being at school and will organise events to make their
learning as much fun as possible. This will include visitors
to school and trips out including our residential trip to
Charterhouse in May.
Football club is available
to all children on Monday after school.
Finally if you have any
concerns or worries I'm always happy to speak to you (I'm
the teacher with the mug of tea in his hand!).
