Ladybirds-Foundation Stage
Hello and a very warm
welcome to Ladybirds Class!
I hope your children soon settle into school life and I look
forward to teaching them. I teach Ladybirds class from Tuesday
to Friday and Mrs Setter teaches the class on Mondays.
My main aim for the first half term is for the children to
feel secure and happy in their new learning environment. I
will be working hard to ensure that the transition from pre-school
to school is as smooth as possible. The following gives an
outline of what your child will be doing at school. Learning
will be play based with a balance of teacher led and child
initiated activities.
We will be learning how to care for ourselves and others and
how to play and learn independently. We will be meeting lots
of new friends.
Literacy based activities will include recognising/tracing/writing
our names, using and changing library books, nursery rhymes
and learning our sounds through the school's phonic scheme.
In Numeracy we will be sharing number rhymes and songs, sorting
by colour/shape etc, counting objects, saying and using number
names to 10 and using shapes in printing and pictures.
The topics we will be covering are Ourselves, Harvest and
autumn.
We will be developing our physical skills with outdoor play,
riding bikes and gymnastics. We will further develop our fine
motor skills by using scissors and simple tools in cutting,
sticking and modelling activities.
Creative work will include exploring paint and play dough,
using percussion instruments, role play and small world toys.
R.E. topic is Babies.
On Mondays the children will be going on Welly Walks so please
make sure they have named wellies in school that day. P.E.
days are on Wednesday and Thursday please make sure hair is
tied back and earrings are removed.
I will be contacting you later in the term to inform you of
how I organise Key groups.
Parents evening will be in October and you will be informed
of the dates in due course. I hope the above information is
helpful. If you have any questions, queries or concerns, however
small, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Best wishes
